Monaco is roughly two square kilometres. During Monaco Yacht Show week that footprint fills fast, and prices climb with demand. Here's Port Hercules itself, and the named hotels below are mapped against it.

Inside Monaco: closest to the harbour
Port Palace
A hotel overlooking Port Hercules, with rooms and suites facing the basin, the yachts on show, and the Rock beyond. Ask about the room’s actual view and the pedestrian route to your chosen entrance.
Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
Monaco's grand belle-époque hotel, on Casino Square, a walkable descent to Port Hercules rather than a harbourfront position. The pick for guests who want Monte Carlo's own grandeur as much as proximity to the yachts.
Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo
Sister property to the Hôtel de Paris, a similarly short walk down to the harbour, known for its Belle Époque winter garden. A slightly quieter alternative to Casino Square itself for the same proximity.
Beausoleil: compare a French-side address

Apartment-style rooms a few minutes from Monaco's Convention Centre and the casino district, in Beausoleil's Belle Époque quarter. Technically France, functionally Monaco, at rates to compare with a Monégasque address.

Sits by the marina in Cap d'Ail, a few metres from Monaco's border, with a marina setting near the beach and an outdoor pool. A branded, bookable-through-Marriott alternative to Monaco's independent grand hotels, a short taxi or coastal walk from the show.
Nice: a wider area to compare
If Monaco, Beausoleil and Cap d'Ail are all sold out or over budget, Nice widens the pool considerably, far more rooms, a full range of price points, and it's where most visitors are flying in and out of anyway. The trade-off is a transfer with additional time for traffic or rail connections each way depending on traffic, which matters more on a harbour-crowded show day than it sounds.
Booking logic
- Confirm show dates first, then book accommodation immediately, compare availability and cancellation terms for those dates.
- Weigh transfer time against harbour crowding. Road access into Monaco tightens significantly during the show; compare the pedestrian route with a realistic transfer plan.
- If you're flying in via Nice, a Nice-based stay with a strong transfer plan is a legitimate strategy, not a downgrade, just build extra time into any harbour-side plans.

If you can get a room and the budget works, yes, walking distance to Port Hercules during a harbour-choked show week is worth a lot. Compare current availability and cancellation terms before paying.
What's the realistic backup if Monaco is sold out?
Beausoleil (literally across the border, uphill) and Cap d'Ail (west along the coast) both put you within a short taxi or walk of the harbour. Nice widens your options considerably but adds a transfer with additional time for traffic or rail connections each way.
