Goodwood: Festival of SpeedWhat is the Goodwood Festival of Speed?
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a four-day motoring festival held in the parkland around Goodwood House in West Sussex, built around a hillclimb up the estate's drive. The 2027 edition runs from 15 to 18 July. Goodwood calls it motorsport's ultimate summer garden party, and it is in this directory because it is one of the few places where Formula 1 cars, historic racing machinery and new road-car launches share one site with the paying public.
Who goes to the Goodwood Festival of Speed?
Motoring enthusiasts and families, collectors and drivers, carmakers launching and debuting new models, and members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club, who get the earliest access to tickets. It draws a broader crowd than a race meeting because there is no single race to follow: the action runs all day.
Goodwood Festival of Speed tickets and prices
Tickets for 2027 go on general sale in November 2026, and members of the GRRC Fellowship can secure tickets at the earliest opportunity. Under-18s must be accompanied; children aged 12 and under go free but still need an admission ticket, and there is reduced Young Person pricing for ages 13 to 21. Goodwood sells tickets subject to availability, and no 2027 prices were confirmed for this entry.
What to know before booking the Goodwood Festival of Speed
This is a festival, not a race. The hillclimb runs throughout the day, the paddocks put cars close to the public, and the day is best planned around the areas you most want to see, such as the Forest Rally Stage, the supercar displays or Future Lab, rather than around a start time. Because tickets are sold subject to availability, the November on-sale is the date to plan around.
Goodwood Festival of Speed parties and side events
Goodwood runs its own calendar of motorsport and members' events across the year, and festival week brings carmaker and sponsor hospitality and private parties in the surrounding area. Grand Circle organises none of it and sells no tickets or hospitality for the Festival of Speed.
How to get to Goodwood
Goodwood is a few miles north of Chichester, which has a mainline railway station with services from London. Roads around the estate are heavily used on festival days. The nearest major airports are Southampton and Gatwick, with Heathrow further away.
Where to stay for the Goodwood Festival of Speed
Chichester is the obvious base, with the South Downs, the coast around Bosham and West Wittering, and Arundel all within reach. Goodwood's own hotel on the estate is the closest option and books early for festival weekends.
