Singapore Public Holidays 2026–2027: Dates and Travel Planning

Singapore's public holiday calendar is a useful travel planning tool for two opposite reasons. Some holidays are the best possible time to be in the city, because the festivals themselves are the attraction. Others are the worst, because the whole region travels at once and prices follow.

The dates below follow the MOM public holiday calendar. The 2026 section focuses on the holidays remaining as of 3 October 2026.

What is left of 2026

The earlier 2026 holidays have passed: New Year's Day, Chinese New Year on 17-18 February, Hari Raya Puasa on 21 March, Good Friday on 3 April, Labour Day on 1 May, Hari Raya Haji on 27 May, Vesak Day on 31 May and National Day on 9 August, observed on Monday 10 August.

For a festival-focused visit, check the announced Little India and Orchard Road programmes separately. A public holiday date does not confirm the dates or hours of a street light-up.

Singapore public holidays 2027

The 2027 long weekends

For a conventional Saturday–Sunday weekend, these dates create a three-day break:

• New Year's Day, Friday 1 January
• Chinese New Year, Saturday to Monday 6-8 February
• Good Friday, Friday 26 March
• Hari Raya Haji, Monday 17 May
• National Day, Monday 9 August

Add one day of leave around Vesak Day on Thursday 20 May or Deepavali on Thursday 28 October and each becomes a four-day break. Compare the actual flight and hotel rates before choosing between those dates.

What actually closes

Check the individual business rather than assuming a public holiday means either universal closure or normal hours. Independent shops and hawker stalls can take breaks during Chinese New Year; a mall's advertised hours do not guarantee every tenant will be open.

Which holidays are worth travelling for

Choose the festival that interests you, then check its announced programme and accommodation availability. Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Geylang Serai and Little India offer different settings, but a 2027 holiday date alone does not confirm a bazaar, parade venue or performance schedule.

Reserve timed attractions and meals around the parts of the programme that matter most. Leave space for an alternative if a business closes or a public event changes.

Singapore Grand Prix week, 9 to 11 October 2026

For a certain kind of traveller, the biggest date in the Singapore calendar is not gazetted at all. Formula 1 comes to Marina Bay on 9-11 October 2026, and the city runs at a completely different tempo: the circuit closes off the civic district, check hotel rates and venue availability for your chosen dates.

Public holiday dates are gazetted by Singapore's Ministry of Manpower. Hari Raya dates are subject to confirmation; verify on mom.gov.sg before making firm bookings.
