What is Paris Haute Couture Week?

Haute Couture Week is the twice-yearly run of shows where Paris houses present couture: clothes made to order, by hand, for individual clients. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) coordinates it, and couture collections are shown twice a year, in January and in July.

Its roots go back a long way. The FHCM traces couture to Charles Frederick Worth, who in 1858 founded what it calls the first true couture house, and its own trade body to 1868. Since a ruling of 23 January 1945, "haute couture" has been a legally protected designation in France, so a house cannot simply call itself couture. That is the main difference from Paris Fashion Week: ready-to-wear is made in sizes for shops, while couture is made to measure, and the two run on separate calendars.

What is new for 2027?

The next edition shows the Spring/Summer 2027 collections from Monday 25 to Thursday 28 January 2027, straight after the menswear Fashion Week. The Fall/Winter 2027-2028 collections follow from Monday 5 to Thursday 8 July 2027.

The January line-up has not been published yet. Houses had until 2 November 2026 to apply for the official calendar, and the FHCM releases the schedule nearer the week. For a sense of scale, the official calendar for the previous edition, Fall/Winter 2026-2027 from 6 to 9 July 2026, listed 30 houses over four days, by our count. The FHCM does not publish attendance figures.

How is it organised?

The official calendar is set by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture and brings together three kinds of house:

  • Members: French houses that hold the haute couture designation.
  • Corresponding members: foreign houses that show in Paris on the same terms.
  • Guest members: houses invited each season by the Chambre Syndicale's committee.

These are categories of house, not ticket tiers. During the same week the Chambre Syndicale also runs a separate Haute Joaillerie calendar, where high jewellery houses present new collections, many of them around Place Vendôme.

Since 2020 the week has had a physical and a digital side. The official calendar marks each event as a show by invitation, a livestream, or a film of the show released later, so you can see in advance which houses you can watch online.

When is it, and what are the hours?

SessionDatesCollections
JanuaryMon 25 to Thu 28 January 2027Spring/Summer 2027
JulyMon 5 to Thu 8 July 2027Fall/Winter 2027-2028

There are no fixed daily hours. Each house has its own time slot, published in the official calendar, and the biggest houses sometimes hold more than one show. In July 2026, Chanel and Giorgio Armani Privé each had two show times. Note that a livestream can start at a different time from the doors of the physical show. The calendar page currently shows the July 2026 programme, so do not mistake it for the January 2027 schedule.

Where is it held?

Across Paris, in venues chosen by each house: their own salons and headquarters, museums, hotels and historic buildings. There is no central fair site and no single entrance. Paris's tourism office notes that during the fashion weeks exact addresses are often kept confidential and shared only with invited guests.

The Grand Palais has hosted famous couture shows, among them Chanel's in the 2010s, but no venue should be assumed for 2027 until the house confirms it. Charles de Gaulle airport is about 25 km from Paris, and Orly is to the south.

How do tickets work?

There is no public ticket. The FHCM's official calendar marks physical shows as by invitation, and invitations are issued by the houses themselves. No official general public pass exists.

Professionals can apply through the FHCM accreditation platform, which is for media, buyers and freelancers. Even accreditation does not get you into a show: the platform says the FHCM "does not provide invitations to events", which "remain at the discretion of the houses". In practice the audience is couture clients, press, buyers and guests of each house.

Be wary of anyone offering to sell a seat at an official couture show. For everyone else, the official way to see the collections is online, through livestreams and films on the FHCM site.

How do I get there and get around?

From Charles de Gaulle, take RER B into the city; from Orly, Métro line 14 is the best option, according to RATP. Both are covered by the Paris Region–Airports ticket, at €14 full fare when checked in October 2026.

Shows run back to back across the city, so the Métro is usually faster than a car between them. Plan each journey from the address on your invitation, using the RATP journey planner. No couture-week shuttle for guests has been announced.

Where should I stay?

There is no official hotel partner, no event car park and no single neighbourhood that hosts the week. Choose where to stay once you know which invitations you have and where they are, and pick somewhere close to a Métro line. Paris's tourism office keeps an accommodation directory by neighbourhood. If you are only following the shows online, there is no need to travel for them at all.

What can I bring, and what should I wear?

No week-wide rules have been published for bags, cameras or dress. Each house sets its own, so follow the instructions on your invitation, including any security checks or ID requirements. There is no official dress code, and claims that couture guests must wear black tie or designer labels are not supported by anything the FHCM publishes. January in Paris is cold and often wet, and the street outside a show is where most visitors spend their time.

Children, service animals and accessibility

No programme-wide policy on children, service animals or accessible seating has been published. These are professional and client events by invitation, so guests with access needs should ask the inviting house for the entrance, seating and assistance arrangements before travelling.

For getting around, RATP says wheelchair users can travel on buses, trams, the RER network and Métro line 14, but not every Métro station is accessible, so plan step-free routes in advance.

Who goes, and what do first-timers get wrong?

The rooms are small and the audience is narrow: the clients who buy couture, editors, buyers and guests of each house. Outside, photographers and onlookers gather at the entrances.

That makes this the most private of the Paris fashion weeks. A couture piece is fitted to one person, and the show is as much a presentation to clients as to the press, which is why there are fewer seats, fewer houses and no public programme built around it.

First-timers usually get a few things wrong. They confuse Haute Couture Week with Paris Fashion Week, which runs a different calendar; they read the July calendar as January's; they assume FHCM accreditation comes with show seats; and they assume a livestream time is the time the doors open. Check the edition, watch the shows online, and if you are in Paris that week, walk Avenue Montaigne and Place Vendôme instead.

Paris Haute Couture Week: frequently asked questions

When is Paris Haute Couture Week 2027?

FHCM confirms 25 to 28 January 2027 for Spring/Summer couture and 5 to 8 July 2027 for Fall/Winter 2027–2028 couture. These are separate sessions. The individual house timetable is a further detail to check on the official calendar when planning a show or presentation visit.

Can you buy tickets to Paris Haute Couture Week?

No. Physical shows are by invitation from each house, and there is no official public pass. Even FHCM accreditation, for media, buyers and freelancers, does not include invitations, which remain at the discretion of the houses. Many shows are livestreamed or released as films on the FHCM site.

FHCM: accreditation platform

Is Haute Couture Week the same as Paris Fashion Week?

FHCM lists couture separately from the menswear and womenswear ready-to-wear calendars. The January and July couture sessions present different collections from those ready-to-wear weeks. Check the collection category as well as the date when searching for a designer’s show, because the broad Fashion Week label can obscure the distinction.

Where are the Paris couture shows held?

Shows and presentations take place at individual venues across Paris, rather than inside one ticketed fair. The address on the house’s invitation or published presentation information is the one to use. A listing on FHCM’s calendar identifies an event; it does not itself provide access to that venue.

Can you watch Haute Couture Week online?

FHCM publishes digital show coverage and replays through its couture programme, with availability depending on the house and presentation. Check the current official calendar for the appropriate stream or film. Online availability does not mean a show is open to walk-in spectators or that an invitation can be purchased.

Who organises Paris Haute Couture Week?

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode coordinates the official couture calendar, while the participating houses manage their presentations and invitations. Grand Circle publishes this independent reference and does not issue show passes, house invitations, press accreditation or access to private couture-week events in Paris.

FHCM: Haute Couture Week

Grand Circle does not organise Paris Haute Couture Week 2027 and sells no tickets or hospitality for it. It is run by Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM). Dates and prices are set by the organiser and change without notice. This entry was last checked against its sources on 2026-10-16.
