The Championships, Wimbledon: ticketsWhat is Wimbledon?
Wimbledon, formally The Championships, is the grass-court tennis tournament held each summer at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in south-west London. The 2027 edition runs from 28 June to 11 July and marks 150 years since the first Championships in 1877, which the club is treating as a landmark year. It is in this directory because getting in is far more complicated than buying a ticket, and the main route for 2027 has already closed.
Who goes to Wimbledon?
A broad public that has won tickets in the ballot or queued on the day; debenture holders in their own seats on Centre Court and No.1 Court; corporate hospitality guests; and the players' and sponsors' circles. The mix is unusually democratic for an event of this standing, because so many of the tickets are allocated at random rather than to whoever pays most.
Wimbledon tickets and prices
There are four legitimate routes in. The Wimbledon Public Ballot allocates tickets at random, two per successful application and one application per household; for 2027 it closed on 14 September 2026. The Queue sells a limited number of show court tickets and grounds passes on the day, one per person. Debentures give a seat on Centre Court or No.1 Court for five years. Hospitality is sold separately. Prices were not confirmed for this entry.
What to know before booking Wimbledon
You cannot choose your day or court through the ballot: day, court and seat are allocated by random selection, and entering year after year earns no priority. If you plan to queue instead, no Centre Court tickets are sold through the Queue on the last four days of the tournament, which is exactly when the finals are played. And buy only through the club's own channels, since it publishes who is authorised to sell tickets.
Wimbledon parties and side events
Away from the grounds, the fortnight carries sponsor receptions, brand hospitality and private parties across London that appear on no public schedule, with access running through hosts and invitations rather than tickets. Grand Circle organises none of it and sells no tickets or hospitality for Wimbledon.
How to get to the All England Club
Southfields on the District line is the closest Underground station to the grounds, and Wimbledon station is served by National Rail, the District line and Tramlink. Heathrow is the nearest major airport. Driving is the weakest option during The Championships, when parking near the grounds is limited.
Where to stay for Wimbledon
Wimbledon Village and the surrounding south-west London neighbourhoods are closest, but central London is a straightforward ride on the District line and many visitors stay there instead. Accommodation near the grounds is limited and books early for the fortnight.

A debenture gives its holder a premium seat on Centre Court or No.1 Court for The Championships over five years, with use of exclusive restaurants and bars. Debenture tickets can be transferred or sold on, and the money raised funds improvements to the grounds for every visitor.
