What is Frieze London?

Frieze London is one of the world's leading contemporary art fairs, held every October in a temporary structure in the south of The Regent's Park. It was founded in 2003 by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, the founders of frieze magazine, and it now anchors Frieze Week, when galleries, museums and auction houses across London stage their biggest shows of the autumn.

The 2026 fair has 172 exhibitors, up from 166 in 2025. It runs alongside its sister fair, Frieze Masters, at the other end of the park; together the two fairs bring almost 300 galleries from 48 countries and regions to London.

What is new for 2026?

The 2026 fair runs from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 18 October, happening as this guide is published. Wednesday is for invited guests only, and public ticket holders can enter from 13:00 on Thursday 15 October.

New this year is The Code Universe, a section curated by Carol Yinghua Lu, and the Artist-to-Artist section, in which established artists choose younger artists to show, returns. Frieze had not published 2027 dates when this guide was checked; the fair is usually held in October.

How is the fair organised?

Frieze London is a commercial fair: galleries from around the world take stands to show and sell work by the artists they represent, from established names to emerging artists. Alongside the main gallery section, curated sections such as The Code Universe and Artist-to-Artist present focused projects.

Around the fair:

  • Frieze Masters, the sister fair for art from antiquity to the late 20th century, is a separate fair with its own building and entrance in the north-east of the park.
  • Frieze Sculpture, a free outdoor display of large works, is held in the park's English Gardens and is open to everyone.
  • Frieze Week brings exhibitions, talks and openings across London, run by their own hosts.

When is it, and what are the hours?

DayDateAccess
Wednesday14 October 2026Invited guests only
Thursday15 October 2026Public entry from 13:00 with preview tickets
Friday to Sunday16 to 18 October 2026Public general admission

Tickets are for a specific date and entry time, and the last admission is 30 minutes before closing. General admission does not allow re-entry.

Where is it held?

In The Regent's Park, central London. The Frieze London entrance is off Park Square West at the south end of the park, postcode NW1 4LL, near Regent's Park and Great Portland Street Underground stations. Frieze Masters is a separate site at Gloucester Green, near London Zoo, and the organiser runs a free shuttle between the two.

How do tickets work?

Tickets are sold online only, through Frieze's ticket page, and are timed. For 2026, full-price prices before booking fees were:

  • Weekend general admission: £48, or £59 for earlier entry.
  • Thursday preview: £150.
  • Combined Frieze London and Frieze Masters, same day: £92.

Early-bird tickets, listed at £38, sold out. If you hold a combined ticket, visit the fairs in the order printed on it. Frieze Sculpture is free and needs no ticket.

How do I get there and get around?

The nearest Underground stations to Frieze London are Regent's Park (Bakerloo line) and Great Portland Street (Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines), both a short walk from the Park Square West entrance. Baker Street, with more lines, is a little further. To reach Frieze Masters, use the organiser's free shuttle or walk north through the park along the Broad Walk.

Where can I park, and where should I stay?

There is no fair parking, and central London traffic is slow; the Underground is far easier. Marylebone and the streets south of Regent's Park are closest to the Frieze London entrance, and Fitzrovia and the West End are a short walk or ride away. If you plan to visit Frieze Week shows across London, choose a base with good Underground links.

What can I bring, and what should I wear?

There is no dress code. Plan around the no-re-entry rule: eat, check your coat and decide on your route through the fair before you leave, because you cannot come back on a general admission ticket. Wear comfortable shoes for a large fair, and an umbrella for the walk across the park in October.

Children, service animals and accessibility

Frieze publishes its rules on children's tickets, assistance dogs and access with its visitor information; check them before you book, as 2026 details were not available to this guide. The fair is on level ground in the park, and visitors with access needs should contact Frieze in advance.

Who goes, and what do first-timers get wrong?

The Wednesday and Thursday previews are dominated by collectors, curators, art advisers, artists and gallery teams. From Thursday afternoon, anyone with a ticket can visit, and the weekend brings a broad public of art lovers and students.

First-timers often confuse Frieze London with Frieze Masters, which is a separate fair at the other end of the park; leave the fair and then find they cannot get back in; turn up for the invitation-only Wednesday; and miss the free Frieze Sculpture in the English Gardens. Buy a timed ticket, consider a combined ticket if you want both fairs, and leave time for the walk through the park.
