What is Frieze Masters?
Frieze Masters is the sister fair to Frieze London, showing art from antiquity to the late 20th century, from ancient sculpture and illuminated manuscripts to Old Masters and modern works. It was founded in 2012 by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, who started Frieze London in 2003, and it is held every October at Gloucester Green, in the north-east corner of The Regent's Park.
It is a separate fair, not a section of Frieze London, with its own building, exhibitors and entrance. In 2026 it has 140 exhibitors, up from 120 in 2025, and with Frieze London the two fairs bring almost 300 galleries from 48 countries and regions to London.
What is new for 2026?
The 2026 fair runs from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 18 October, happening as this guide is published. Wednesday is reserved for invited guests, and public ticket holders can enter from 13:00 on Thursday.
The Spotlight section, which focuses on 20th-century artists who deserve wider attention, returns, and a new section, Queering Modernism, joins it. Frieze had not published 2027 dates when this guide was checked; the fair is usually held in October, alongside Frieze London.

How is the fair organised?
Specialist galleries take stands to show and sell work across thousands of years of art history. Alongside the main gallery section, curated sections give the fair its character: Spotlight for overlooked 20th-century artists and, in 2026, Queering Modernism. The mix means you can see antiquities, Old Master paintings and modern works within a few stands of each other.
Frieze Masters works best as its own visit. Many visitors come for Masters alone; others buy a combined ticket and see Frieze London, the contemporary fair at the south of the park, on the same day.
When is it, and what are the hours?
| Day | Date | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | 14 October 2026 | Invited guests only |
| Thursday | 15 October 2026 | Public entry from 13:00 with preview tickets |
| Friday to Sunday | 16 to 18 October 2026 | Public general admission |
Tickets are for a specific date and entry time, and general admission does not allow re-entry.
Where is it held?
At Gloucester Green, in the north-east of The Regent's Park, near London Zoo, postcode NW1 4HA. This is a different entrance from Frieze London, which is off Park Square West at the south end of the park. The organiser runs a free shuttle between the two fairs.
How do tickets work?
Tickets are sold online only and are timed. For 2026, full-price prices before booking fees were:
- Weekend general admission: £48, or £59 for earlier first access before 15:00.
- Combined Frieze Masters and Frieze London, same day: £92.
- Preview tickets at separate prices.
Early-bird tickets sold out. A Masters ticket does not include Frieze London unless you buy a combined ticket; if you do, visit the fairs in the order printed on it and respect each entry time.
How do I get there and get around?
The nearest Underground stations are Great Portland Street and Regent's Park to the south, and Camden Town to the east; from the south, walk north through the park along the Broad Walk. If you are visiting both fairs, the free shuttle saves the walk between them.

Where can I park, and where should I stay?
There is no fair parking, and central London is easiest by Underground. Camden, Primrose Hill and the streets east of the park are closest to Gloucester Green; Marylebone and Fitzrovia, to the south, suit a combined visit with Frieze London. If you are also visiting galleries across town during Frieze Week, pick a base with good transport links.
What can I bring, and what should I wear?
There is no dress code. Because general admission does not allow re-entry, eat, check your coat and plan your route before you go in. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring an umbrella for the walk across the park in October.
Children, service animals and accessibility
Frieze publishes its rules on children's tickets, assistance dogs and access with its visitor information; check them before you book, as 2026 details were not available to this guide. The fair is on level ground, and visitors with access needs should contact Frieze in advance.
Who goes, and what do first-timers get wrong?
Collectors, museum curators, advisers and dealers dominate the previews, and public ticket holders arrive from Thursday afternoon. You do not need to be a collector to visit.
First-timers often assume Masters is inside Frieze London, when it is a separate fair at the other end of the park; leave and find they cannot get back in; leave Masters until the end of a long day at Frieze London; and arrive on the invitation-only Wednesday. Give Masters its own time, and use the shuttle if you are visiting both.
