What is the Goodwood Revival?
The Goodwood Revival is a three-day historic motor race meeting at the Goodwood Motor Circuit near Chichester, staged entirely in a period theme. Goodwood calls it the world's most spectacular historic motor racing event, and it transports visitors back to the golden age of motor racing from 1948 to 1966, the years when the circuit was in its heyday. Everything on the track, and much of what the crowd wears, comes from that era.
The racing is fierce: Goodwood says the Revival delivers more overtakes in one weekend than a whole Formula 1 season, with near £1 billion worth of cars and motorcycles on and off the track. The 2026 Revival had an Italian "La Dolce Vita" theme, celebrating 100 years of Maserati's racing heritage and 80 years of the Vespa, with more than 300 pre-1967 scooters in the opening parade. André Lotterer and Lukas Halusa won the weekend's premier race, the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, against a field that included the former Formula 1 world champions Jacques Villeneuve and Jenson Button.
What is new for 2027?
The 2027 Revival runs from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 September. Goodwood had not announced its 2027 theme, anniversaries or race line-up when this guide was checked; those usually follow in the months before the event.
Tickets went on sale first to members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club and 2026 customers, and the main ticket page says tickets will be back on sale later this year. GRRC Fellows get 10% off two tickets and grandstand passes per day.

How is it organised?
The Revival is a full race meeting, with races for cars and motorcycles that would have competed at Goodwood between 1948 and 1966. Highlights include the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration for GT cars, the St Mary's Trophy for saloon cars, the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, the Lavant Cup and the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy on Friday evening. Famous drivers from Formula 1, IndyCar and Le Mans often share cars with their owners.
Beyond the track, the whole site plays the part. The Freddie March Spirit of Aviation concours shows historic aircraft, Spitfires fly overhead, and the Over the Road area, outside the circuit, has the Revival Market, the Earls Court Motor Show and bars that stay open into the evening. Admission includes all of this, with free parking and free tickets for children aged 12 and under.
When is it, and what are the hours?
| Day | Date | Times |
|---|---|---|
| Friday | 17 September 2027 | Car parks 07:00; main site 08:30 (GRRC 07:30); closes about 19:00 |
| Saturday | 18 September 2027 | Same |
| Sunday | 19 September 2027 | Same |
The times are from Goodwood's FAQ. Over the Road opens to everyone from 07:30, and its bars and many areas stay open until 22:00 on Friday and Saturday and 21:00 on Sunday. The 2027 race timetable will be published nearer the event.
Where is it held?
At the Goodwood Motor Circuit, on the Goodwood Estate just north of Chichester, West Sussex. It is a different venue from the Festival of Speed, which takes place in the parkland around Goodwood House a short distance away. The circuit sits beside Goodwood Aerodrome, which is why aircraft are part of the show.
How do tickets work?
Tickets are sold on Goodwood's ticket page. Goodwood Road Racing Club members and 2026 customers could buy first; general tickets will be back on sale later in the year, and you can sign up for ticket alerts. 2027 prices had not been published.
Children aged 12 and under need a free child admission ticket, ordered in advance, and a reduced Young Person ticket covers ages 13 to 21. Children aged two and over need their own Roving Grandstand Pass. Orders can be cancelled or refunded only within 48 hours of purchase, and if you cannot go, you can resell at face value through Goodwood's official resale partner, Twickets.
How do I get there and get around?
Most visitors arrive by car, train or bus. The nearest station is Chichester, with direct trains from London Victoria, or from Waterloo with a change at Havant, according to Goodwood's travel guide. Check for engineering works before travelling: in 2026 they disrupted Revival weekend trains between London and Chichester. Vintage buses are part of the fun, carrying visitors between Chichester and the circuit in period style.

Where can I park, and where should I stay?
Parking is free and opens at 07:00 each day, on grass fields, so wear suitable shoes and note that very low cars may struggle. There is no overnight parking. Owners of tax-exempt or pre-1966 cars can apply for free space in the Revival Car Show parking area, which sells out in advance and becomes an exhibition of its own. Blue Badge holders follow signs to Car Park D and enter through Gate 12, with courtesy shuttles in all car parks.
Goodwood also runs campsites for the weekend, opening on the Wednesday. Otherwise, Chichester and the surrounding West Sussex coast are the closest places to stay.
What can I bring, and what should I wear?
Dressing up is part of the fun, but Goodwood says there is no pressure. Many guests embrace the 1940s, 50s and 60s, from a single scarf or hat to a head-to-toe period look. Goodwood asks visitors not to wear controversial uniforms or costumes that appropriate another culture, and replica weapons are banned except for authorised re-enactment groups.
You can bring a picnic with up to one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne, or four beers, to share between two people; spirits are not allowed. Knives other than picnic cutlery, drugs, drones and animals other than assistance dogs are banned, and bags are searched at every entrance.
Children, service animals and accessibility
Children aged 12 and under go free with a child ticket and get a wristband with space for a contact number. No dogs or other pets are allowed, and they must not be left in cars; only guide dogs and registered assistance dogs are admitted, with certification and a harness.
Blue Badge parking is in Car Park D, with courtesy shuttles to the entrances. There is an on-site pharmacy behind the Chicane Grandstand and several first aid points staffed by doctors.
Who goes, and what do first-timers get wrong?
The crowd is a mix of classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts, families and fashion lovers, many in period dress, alongside famous drivers past and present and the owners of some of the world's most valuable historic cars.
First-timers often think period dress is compulsory, when it is entirely optional; forget the free child tickets must be ordered in advance; arrive in a very low car for the grass car parks; and leave at 19:00, missing Over the Road in the evening. Arrive early, explore beyond the track, and stay for the evening.
