What is the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance?

The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is the world's most prestigious classic car show, held each August on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, on California's Monterey Peninsula. Some of the rarest and most valuable cars ever built are judged class by class for authenticity, history and style, and one is named Best of Show, the highest honour in the collector car world.

The 2026 concours, held on 16 August, was the 75th edition. Best of Show went to a 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster shown by Harry Yeaggy of Cincinnati, a car reported to have been first owned by Clark Gable, and Duesenberg's eighth Best of Show at Pebble Beach. The concours is also a charity event, and has raised more than $50 million for causes in Monterey County.

What is new for 2027?

The 76th concours takes place on Sunday 15 August 2027, with the free Concours Village open from 12 to 15 August. Tickets go on sale in late 2026. The featured classes and the full Car Week programme for 2027 had not been announced when this guide was checked; Pebble Beach usually reveals its special classes over the months before the show.

How is it organised?

The concours is one event in a week of motoring events on the Monterey Peninsula, often called Monterey Car Week. Pebble Beach runs several of its own:

• The Concours d'Elegance on Sunday: judged collector cars on the 18th fairway, special classes, concept cars on the Concept Lawn, and the awards show, ending with Best of Show.
• Concours Village: free and open to the public from Thursday to Sunday, with manufacturer displays.
• The Tour d'Elegance: earlier in the week, many of the concours cars take to the roads of the peninsula on a scenic drive.
• RetroAuto, the Classic Car Forum and auctions: displays of automobilia, talks and sales around the show.

Other Car Week events, such as auctions and other concours across the peninsula, are run by separate organisers, with their own tickets.

When is it, and what are the dates?

The concours runs through the day on Sunday, with the awards in the afternoon. Detailed 2027 times will be published nearer the event.

Where is it held?

On the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, beside The Lodge at Pebble Beach, overlooking Carmel Bay on the Monterey Peninsula, about two hours south of San Francisco. The nearest airport is Monterey Regional; San José and San Francisco are larger alternatives.

How do tickets work?

Tickets go on sale in late 2026 through the concours's official store. 2027 prices had not been published. The options are:

• General Admission: the show field, special classes, Concours Village, manufacturer displays, RetroAuto, official merchandise and the awards show.
• Club d'Elegance: a VIP tent at Parc du Concours, a short shuttle from the show field, with breakfast, lunch and drinks all day.
• The Venue Above the Concept Lawn, The Concours Gallery, The Pavilion and Patron's Patio: hospitality spaces with views of the concept cars or the awards ramp, each with buffets and hosted drinks.
• Chairman's Hospitality at The Lodge: the top level, inside Stillwater, with a panoramic view of the show field and awards ramp.

How do I get there and get around?

General admission includes parking and a shuttle from within Pebble Beach: follow traffic officials to your lot, and shuttles take you to the show field. Some VIP packages include a pass for a lot closer to the field.

From Carmel, a paid shuttle runs from Carmel Plaza at Ocean Avenue and Mission Street; passes can be bought online, at the Carmel Visitor Center or at the stop. Ride-shares and taxis are encouraged and drop off at Concours Village, across from the Pebble Beach Auctions at Forest Lake Road and Stevenson Drive.

Where can I park, and where should I stay?

Use the parking included with your ticket and the official shuttles; roads on the peninsula are busy all week. Rooms at Pebble Beach itself are limited and in very high demand during Car Week. Carmel-by-the-Sea, with its shuttle to the show, and Monterey and Pacific Grove are the nearest alternatives, and many visitors stay further out along the coast. Book as early as you can.

What can I bring, and what should I wear?

Dressing up is encouraged. The concours's style guide suggests resort-casual clothing with a standout piece, and some visitors go further, "from period costumes to fancy hats and lipsticks matching automotive details", or an outfit matching their favourite marque. It recommends layers, because mornings and evenings on the coast are cool and the midday sun is warm, comfortable shoes for walking over grass and other terrain, sunscreen and sunglasses. Your event wristband must be visible at all times.

Children, service animals and accessibility

The 2027 rules on children's tickets and animals had not been published when this guide was checked, so check the ticket page when sales open. Spectators with a state-issued disabled parking placard get designated parking and free shuttles to the show field, according to the organiser's parking page.

Who goes, and what do first-timers get wrong?

The show field brings together the owners and restorers of some of the most important cars in history, judges and historians, car makers showing concepts, and collectors, enthusiasts and families from around the world.

First-timers often confuse the concours with the rest of Car Week, which is run by many different organisers; forget that the Concours Village is free; arrive late, when the show field is at its busiest; and underestimate the cool coastal mornings. Arrive early, dress in layers, and stay for Best of Show.
